In this assignment you will be discussing Piaget’s Theory of Learning in context of his quote: “The principal goal of education is to create men who are capable of doing new things, not simply of creating what other generations have done.” Jean Piaget 1896-1980

Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you:
1.     State your position on Piaget’s quote in relation to adult learning. Use at least three (3) concepts
and / or theories discussed in Week 1 to support your position such as change, filling a need, learning as product, process, or function, based on Knowles’ views and program / learning objectives.
2.     According to Knowles, behaviorists insist that objectives are meaningless unless they describe terminal behaviors in very precise, measurable, and observable terms. Examine the review of literature provided in Chapter 6. Discuss reasons the idea of program / learning objectives is so controversial.
3.     In Chapter 13, Knowles addressed the barriers to success as a facilitator. Discuss how teaching through inquiry and teaching through modeling can be useful in the learning environment.
4.     Reflect and discuss your own educational philosophy for adult learning and / or teaching, and if or how it was influenced by these theorists.
5.     Include at least three (3) references (no more than 2-3 years old) from material outside the textbook.

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
